Donations of school supplies
During our “Love & Seva” retreat at Sanatha Suwaya this year, we conducted a day of giving and service at the Boyegama Government School. The program was organized by Sewwandi Rathnayake-Gunasekara and the team at Sanatha Suwaya.
For the event, volunteers from this retreat and our “Journey to Sri Lanka”carried donations of school supplies that they either collected or made personally.
Due to the economic crisis in this already struggling country, students are lacking in even the most basic supplies. In the ceremony, students performed dances and songs of gratitude and diligence, which was followed by a gift giving ceremony with individual parcels for over 200 students.
We can’t alleviate all the sufferings of the world, but we can help as we are able. I am continuing my mission to add love to the world, and look forward to using the funds collected from my birthday fundraiser to help more families in Sri Lanka.
