Today we made a donation of medications to kandy Genaral Hospital in Sri Lanka. Less than a week ago, my mother was admitted to this hospital and stayed within the very ward where we made the donation.
Although the hospitals lack modern comforts and materials, the doctor and staff are world class, providing accurate, timely, and loving care.
These government operated hospitals provide medical care free of charge to people, and for the poor, some medications are provided. For this who can afford medication, the doctors will ask them to purchase it, in order to keep supplies available for those who can’t. The medications we donated today are in high demand, and sadly, due to the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, becoming more and more difficult to obtain. It is for all these reasons that I wanted to take quick action and support the hospital and people in a time of need.
I am so grateful to this hospital where I was born and have cared for my mother, family, and members of the Sangha. The doctors and staff were so grateful and I will try to do more.
Thanks to Ben Sykora and all the members and supporters of Bowing for Change. Through their sponsorship, we were able to carry out this effort.
May all those involved share in this merit and may all beings be well, happy, and peaceful.
