Bhante Sujatha is a Buddhist Monk.  His ambitious work and tireless dedication are not only the aspects of his character, but results of his practice.  No matter where Bhante is, one can rest assured that he would be working.  Still, as a monk, and a single human being, there is only so much that Bhante can accomplish on his own.

We all know that in order to help others, to move about, and to simply survive requires resources.  This is an undeniable fact, and so to continue the work that he does, Bhante needs support.

This page presents a chance for you to offer that support.

It is true that much of what Bhante does is simply to create opportunities for people to give support where it is needed.  Because he has spent many years focusing of charitable efforts, Bhante is contacted by people all over the world everyday seeking some kind of support, hoping that he can find a way to help them.

Often times many of us do not have the time or chances to find meaningful causes, or have the security to know that what we offer will go to its intended target.  Bhante Sujatha’s commitment, hard work, and vision have gained the trust of donors across the globe that participate in his work by contributing their time, expertise, and financial support.

Not surprisingly, the majority of those who support him, are individuals whom Bhante has helped; those who know him personally, and wish to invest in him, knowing that benefits of the return will be exponential.

There are lots of ways to help, and rather than ask for donations, we ask you to “get involved.”

Below are descriptions of some of our upcoming projects.

You can donate to one of them by clicking the button and selecting the one you would like to support from the dropdown menu, or you can click the button at the bottom of the page to support our general fund.

Annual Pregnant Mother’s Retreat

Bhante Sujatha believes that “Children are our future, and their well-being and first teacher are their mothers.”
To support mothers and babies, Bhante has undertaken projects to provide incubators, medicine, and phototherapy machines to hospitals in Sri Lanka, and more than 10 years ago, he created the “Annual Retreat for Pregnant Women” where 300 expecting women are invited to attend a day retreat to learn and practice loving-kindness meditation, receive education on health care and nutrition from certified doctors, are served lunch, and are provided parcels of essential items for newborns.
The depth of this program goess beyond helping 300 women by providing gifts. The purpose of this program is to nurture those who will nurture the future of this world. If you would like to donate to this program, you can do so by clicking this button:

Constructing a Vocational Training Bakery for The Senkadagala School for the Deaf and Blind

The amazing students at this award winning school are in need of our support—special learning materials, essential supplies, and a nurturing environment to help them thrive.

In addition to traditional education, The Senkadagala Special School seeks to train their students with real world vocational skills that can prepare them for careers to build their independence.

Witnessing the great success of their garment manufacture and sewing section, they have set their sites on their next phase — a vocational training bakery. This facility will empower them to become more independent, giving them skills to build a brighter future.

Bhante Sujatha is heeding their call for support and now leading a fundraising campaign for you to join in constructing a space where these children can gain valuable vocational skills.

Join us in making a lasting impact. Donate today and be the reason these children step into a world of opportunity.

Supporting the Monk Behind the Mission: Donating to Bhante Sujatha

Bhante Sujatha has been a Buddhist monk for 45 years and has devoted his life to the practice of cultivating mindfulness and the noble qualities of compassion, equanimity, sympathetic-joy, and loving-kindness. After years of study and training in a small village in Sri Lanka, he entered the western world. Over the last 30 years he has worked tirelessly to share the teachings of the Buddha in a practical and approachable way to audiences around the world, and has concurrently used his energy and support to uplift the world in countless charitable initiatives. Through it all, as a Buddhist monk, he has never received a salary, and to this day takes no income from the temple he founded, nor any government agency. He survives on the donations and support he receives.
While the teachings of the Buddha and Bhante Sujatha are free of charge, the world is not. If you believe in Bhante, and would like to see his work continue, we encourage you to offer some support for his living expenses. By supporting Bhante, you make a ripple in the waters of compassion and kindness that can grow into a wave of support for the world.
