DESCRIPTION:“Buddha vacana” (the Buddha’s words) are lifestyles. \nI have observed and interacted with many scholars pursuing the teaching of the Buddha through academic practices. I myself have done this as part of my monk’s training\, and know it is very important for our growth as monks\, for the purpose of making the Dhamma accessible to people\, and for the purpose of protecting the life of the Buddha Dhamma. \nStudying these beautiful teachings is important\, but we also have to understand that if they are not put into a daily practice\, they serve as much purpose as a book collecting dust on the shelf. I do not think the Buddha intended for the teachings to simply be collected and memorized\, but to be understood\, and applied. \nAs I understand at this time in my practice\, there are two Dharmas: \n1. Head Dharma \n2. Our friends are those who we depend on; who we look to in order to belong\, who we wish to help in their time of need\, and who we seek for comfort and counsel. We spend so much time trying to invest in our status and our relationships in order to find fulfillment\, and in doing so we frequently forget our own well-being\, or put our own selves at the bottom of our list. \nIn my experience\, whether the relationship is with a family member\, spouse\, or friend\, these still exist outside of our inner world\, and no dissatisfaction can be completely resolved from the outside. While you are lying down and relaxing\, the sounds and frequencies of the crystal bowls will vibrate through your body\, allowing you to let go of energy blockages. DESCRIPTION:“Buddha vacana” (the Buddha’s words) are lifestyles. \nI have observed and interacted with many scholars pursuing the teaching of the Buddha through academic practices. I myself have done this as part of my monk’s training\, and know it is very important for our growth as monks\, for the purpose of making the Dhamma accessible to people\, and for the purpose of protecting the life of the Buddha Dhamma. \nStudying these beautiful teachings is important\, but we also have to understand that if they are not put into a daily practice\, they serve as much purpose as a book collecting dust on the shelf. I do not think the Buddha intended for the teachings to simply be collected and memorized\, but to be understood\, and applied. \nAs I understand at this time in my practice\, there are two Dharmas: \n1. DESCRIPTION:Join Bhante Sujatha\, The Loving-Kindness monk\, for an unforgettable experience to set intentions\, let go of what is no longer serving us\, and clear the way for unconditional love from ourselves and others. \nThis program begins with a brief\, inspiring talk by Bhante Sujatha on the benefits of creating\, refreshing\, and establishing a sturdy meditation practice in our lives in order to support the goals we set to be our best self\, followed by a guided meditation. \nBhante will then lead a blessing ceremony with chanting describing a wish for world-wide good health\, healing\, and blessings along with a healing sound bath led by host Cheryl Hobbs. \nA blessing ceremony is a mindful intention to contact and share that which is good\, particularly in a divine sense. Our practice will include connecting with the force of goodness inside each of us and then inviting this ‘energy’ into a particular situation to help the whole world. \nSound meditation is truly an amazing experience for the body\, mind\, and soul. While you are relaxing\, the sounds and frequencies will be vibrating through your body\, allowing you to let go of energy blockages. This unique experience is something that will resonate within you long after the event is over. \nJoin Bhante Sujatha and joyful friends as we come together as a spiritual community to experience the healing power of unconditional love and to receive well-wishes as you practice nobility and peace in this life. \nProceeds from a portion of the event will go to Bhante’s pregnant mothers and Incubator Project in Sri Lanka \nBook signing and “Choose Loving Kindness” items will be available for purchase after the event. \nWhat to bring: \nPlease bring a yoga mat or blanket to lay on\, an extra blanket to cover up with\, a pillow for your comfort\, and a water if you’d like. The studio has extra mats\, bolsters\, blankets\, and waters. We also will have chairs available for anyone that cannot lie down or wishes to sit during the event. DESCRIPTION:Making Peace with the Past: How to Deal with Our Memories \nMemory is the faculty in which the mind stores and remembers information. Our memories are emotional imprints. Whenever a memory arises\, whether good or bad\, we are no longer in the present moment. A good memory can feel so good and joyful\, and help influence our actions in the present moment. When we have labeled a memory as a bad one\, it can feel painful and scary\, which also influences our actions in the present moment. \nMany of us are stuck in old memories that keep influencing the present. We often don’t know how to deal with them\, how to let them move through our emotions with ease and let them go. We struggle with who to talk with\, often keeping thoughts deep inside to rot like an apple at the bottom of a fruit bowl. \nJoin Bhante Sujatha in this workshop exploring how to heal the pain caused by the influence of memories.
