SUMMARY:Monthly Online Practical Sutra Study with Bhante Sujatha – January 2026
DESCRIPTION:Come join Bhante Sujatha for monthly practical sutra study sessions on Zoom – get ready to deepen your understanding and practice!\n\n\n\n“Buddha vacana” (the Buddha’s words) are lifestyles. \nI have observed and interacted with many scholars pursuing the teaching of the Buddha through academic practices. I myself have done this as part of my monk’s training\, and know it is very important for our growth as monks\, for the purpose of making the Dhamma accessible to people\, and for the purpose of protecting the life of the Buddha Dhamma. \nStudying these beautiful teachings is important\, but we also have to understand that if they are not put into a daily practice\, they serve as much purpose as a book collecting dust on the shelf. I do not think the Buddha intended for the teachings to simply be collected and memorized\, but to be understood\, and applied. \nAs I understand at this time in my practice\, there are two Dharmas: \n1. Head Dharma \n2. Heart Dharma \nI have met practitioners and students all over the world\, and many of them approach the teaching from either one of these aspects\, but it is my wish for people to develop both. \nTaking into consideration requests from students across the world for more sutra studies\, I have decided to create this “Practical Sutra Study Session” as a monthly program designed to give more support to those on the path of self awareness and mindfulness. \nI hope that you can join\, and come together with noble friends to deepen our practice together. \nMay you be well\, happy\, and peaceful. \nWANT TO PARTICIPATE BUT UNABLE TO JOIN? \nNOT TO WORRY! \nTHE EVENT WILL BE RECORDED AND SENT TO ALL REGISTERED GUESTS! \n\n\nTo Register\, Click: HERE

SUMMARY:Stop Sitting Around! A Mindful Hike with Bhante Sujatha and Noble Friends
DESCRIPTION:“STOP SITTING AROUND!” \nA Mindful Hike with Bhante Sujatha \nWe all get accustomed to our thinking mind’s perceptions of right and wrong: This is the right way; this is the wrong way…. Our spiritual practice however\, teaches us to let go of some of these certainties\, and discover new ways to experience mindful practice. \nMany people are accustomed to the belief that meditation practice only happens while sitting on a cushion. Our minds can become conditioned in this way\, and we forget that meditation is a practice for developing mindfulness for daily living. \nJoin Bhante Sujatha on a sunset hike with mindfulness\, to shake up your practice and challenge the notions that you may or may not have adopted. \nIn this evening hike\, Bhante and a group of noble friends will share time skillfully with hiking\, sharing meaningful conversation\, practicing stillness to experience nature\, and learning to watch the steps and breaths taken along the way. \nDate: January 2\, 2024 \nTime: 4:30 PM \nStarting Location: The Phoenix Mountain Preserve\, 40th Street Trailhead \nRegistration: For Head Count Purposes\, please register on Eventbrite \nDonation are cheerfully welcomed at this event. \nAll proceeds go toward Bhante Sujatha’s “Annual Pregnant Mother’s Project” and charitable work in Sri Lanka. \nNOTES: \nWe will meet in the parking lot at the trailhead. The hike begins at 4:30 PM. Please arrive a few minutes early for the head count. \nThere will be a brief sitting meditation and discussion\, please bring a mat or blanket if you like for sitting. \n  \nTo Register\, Click: HERE

SUMMARY:Put Your Practice Into Practice: A Mindfulness Workshop with Bhante Sujatha
DESCRIPTION:Put Your Practice Into Practice \nA Mindfulness Workshop and Luncheon \nThe Buddha taught: “Not by wearing matted hair\, nor by lineage\, nor by caste\, does one become a brahmana; only he who realizes the Truth and the Dhamma is pure.” In this profound teaching the Buddha explains that our practice does not evolve by altering appearance or karmic inheritance alone; in order to truly grow\, we have to apply what we learn\, and allow our internal shifting to reflect into our speech and actions. \nIt is crucial for us to examine our practice and be sure that we are not simply going through the motions\, but involved in a practice that supports deep and meaningful changes that open us to deeper truths and penetrating into our intuitive wisdom. \nIn this 2-hour workshop\, Bhante Sujatha invites us to reflect on our inner and outer lives\, instructs in how to establish and preserve your meditation practice\, and take the practice from off the “cushion” and into our daily lives. \n  \nTo Register\, Click: HERE

Our friends are those who we depend on; who we look to in order to belong\, who we wish to help in their time of need\, and who we seek for comfort and counsel. \nWe spend so much time trying to invest in our status and our relationships in order to find fulfillment\, and in doing so we frequently forget our own well-being\, or put our own selves at the bottom of our list. SUMMARY:Awakening in the Midst of Life – A Meditation for Inner Recognition.
DESCRIPTION:Awakening in the Midst of Life – A Meditation for Inner Recognition.\n\nLife doesn’t take a time out for us\, even when we feel like we need it. But we have the power to take our mind out of life\, and can use this ability to observe it clearly. This is the way we bring our practice off of the cushion and into the midst of life. By learning to keep our mind open and aware throughout the day\, we discover the true application of mindfulness practice.\n\n  \nIn this workshop\, Bhante Sujatha will guide you through techniques that help to dissolve the lines between the “beginning” and “ending” of a meditation practice\, and discover that mindfulness is an ongoing process that becomes a companion in life. \nIn this program\, suitable for both new and seasoned practitioners\, we will learn how to measure our responses\, become more adaptive\, reduce conflict\, and manage emotions. \nJoin Bhante Sujatha in this workshop to learn that in both good times and bad\, we always have the choice to step back and see what is happening. \n\n  \nTo Register\, Click: HERE

SUMMARY:The Greatest Step Toward Simplicity: A Mindfulness Meditation Workshop with Bhante Sujatha
DESCRIPTION:The Greatest Step Toward Simplicity\nA Mindfulness Meditation Workshop with Bhante Sujatha\n\n“The greatest step towards a life of simplicity is to learn to let go.” \nLetting go doesn’t mean relying on the idea that life will just get better. Letting go requires deep insight into universal truths\, and learning to keep those at the front of our understanding. \nLetting go means being brave\, to move forward from positions of comfort to discomfort\, being willing to face challenges in order to get to where you want to be. Letting go means accepting the things you can’t change and doing something about the things you can. \nIn this 2-hour workshop\, Bhante Sujatha recounts tales from his own life experiences\, and how these hard-won lessons when viewed with mindful awareness provided insight into awakening. \nJoin Bhante Sujatha for this special opportunity to practice with him\, share in his wisdom\, and get your questions answered as you learn how the practice of mediation and the wisdom teachings of the Buddha can help guide you in the process of letting go. \n\nTo Register\, Click\, HERE

SUMMARY:Finding Happiness in the Western World: A Mindfulness Workshop

SUMMARY:Your Loss is Your Gain: A Mindfulness Workshop with Bhante Sujatha
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop Bhante Sujatha recounts tales from his own life and how these hard-won lessons provided insight into awakening. \n\n\nYour Loss is Your Gain \nA Workshop & Guided Meditation with Bhante Sujatha \n“When you are able to experience gain and loss with an equal mind\, you realize a rare freedom found in this world.” \nWe have all experienced success and failure\, praise and blame\, gain and loss. How do we feel after these experiences? How do we remember them? Our emotional connection to these extremes is undeniable\, but we don’t always examine their long term effects\, nor the middle ground between them. Recognizing and understanding the shifting of our emotions by outward influences is something we can realize both on and off the cushion\, and allow us to experience and interact with the world in peaceful and purposeful ways. \nJoin Bhante Sujatha in this two-hour workshop to explore how mindfulness and meditation practice can help you to clearly process the subtle reactions and patterns we develop when we experience gain and loss. \n\n\nTo Register\, Click\, HERE

SUMMARY:New Year's Blessing Ceremony with Bhante Sujatha
DESCRIPTION:Healing Meditation and New Year Blessings with Bhante Sujatha \nThe new year is a time for healing\, setting intentions\, letting go of what is no longer serving us\, and clearing the way for unconditional love from ourselves and others. \nJoin Bhante Sujatha\, The Loving-Kindness monk\, this new year season for an unforgettable blessing experience to initiate your new year with commitment and determination. A blessing ceremony is a mindful intention to contact and share that which is good\, particularly in a divine sense. \nOur practice will include connecting with the force of goodness inside each of us and then inviting this ‘energy’ into a particular situation to help the whole world. This program begins with a brief\, inspiring talk by Bhante Sujatha on the benefits of creating\, refreshing\, and establishing a sturdy meditation practice in our lives in order to support the goals we set to be our best self\, followed by a guided meditation. Bhante will then chant the Ratana Sutra\, a 2\,600-year-old Buddhist chant describing a wish for world-wide good health\, healing\, and blessings. \nFinally\, the group will join together in an ancient and symbolic act of cleansing by bathing the Buddha; pouring scented\, blessed water over a Buddha statue while making intentions for our lives and the world. The Buddha image embodies the enlightened presence of the qualities of a Buddha. \nThis ritual comes in different forms in each country that it is practiced in\, but they are all lines drawn from a single sacred story. It is a story that brings sentient beings together in a joyful celebration of a promise. That promise is nothing less than the end of suffering and ignorance. \nJoin Bhante Sujatha and joyful friends as we come together as a spiritual community to experience the healing power of unconditional love and to receive well-wishes as you practice nobility and peace in this life. You are encouraged to bring your malas\, or any other items that you wish to be blessed in this ceremony. \n  \nTo Register\, Click: HERE

SUMMARY:Making Peace with the Past: A Mindfulness Workshop with Bhante Sujatha
DESCRIPTION:Memory is the faculty in which the mind stores and remembers information. Our memories are emotional imprints. Whenever a memory arises\, whether good or bad\, we are no longer in the present moment. A good memory can feel so good and joyful\, and help influence our actions in the present moment. When we have labeled a memory as a bad one\, it can feel painful and scary\, which also influences our actions in the present moment. \nMany of us are stuck in old memories that keep influencing the present. We often don’t know how to deal with them\, how to let them move through our emotions with ease and let them go. We struggle with who to talk with\, often keeping thoughts deep inside to rot like an apple at the bottom of a fruit bowl. \nJoin Bhante Sujatha in this workshop exploring how to heal the pain caused by the influence of memories. Bhante will guide you through specific steps to make peace with the past once and for all\, and carry our memories\, both good and bad\, as sacred mile markers on our journey\, but not as a GPS for the future. \nTo Register\, Click: HERE

SUMMARY:No More Dharma Candy: A Deeper Look into the Teachings of the Buddha
DESCRIPTION:Session 1 (Remote): The Four Noble Truths and The Noble Eightfold Path – The Way of Liberation\n\nThe Buddha’s first and most complete teaching begins not with belief\, but with seeing clearly: that life includes suffering\, that this suffering has a cause\, that its end is possible\, and that there is a path leading there.\nThis way\, the Noble Eightfold Path invites us to live with wisdom\, integrity\, and mindful awareness. Through right view\, intention\, speech\, action\, livelihood\, effort\, mindfulness\, and concentration\, we learn to meet life’s challenges with clarity and compassion. \nThis session explores how these timeless truths can guide us through modern confusion\, showing that awakening is not distant or abstract\, but a lived experience available in each moment. \nTo Join\, Click HERE

SUMMARY:Monthly Online Practical Sutra Study with Bhante Sujatha – December 2025
DESCRIPTION:“Buddha vacana” (the Buddha’s words) are lifestyles. \n\n\nI have observed and interacted with many scholars pursuing the teaching of the Buddha through academic practices. I myself have done this as part of my monk’s training\, and know it is very important for our growth as monks\, for the purpose of making the Dhamma accessible to people\, and for the purpose of protecting the life of the Buddha Dhamma. \n\n\nStudying these beautiful teachings is important\, but we also have to understand that if they are not put into a daily practice\, they serve as much purpose as a book collecting dust on the shelf. I do not think the Buddha intended for the teachings to simply be collected and memorized\, but to be understood\, and applied. \n\n\nAs I understand at this time in my practice\, there are two Dharmas: \n\n\n1. Head Dharma \n\n\n2. Heart Dharma \n\n\nI have met practitioners and students all over the world\, and many of them approach the teaching from either one of these aspects\, but it is my wish for people to develop both. \n\n\nTaking into consideration requests from students across the world for more sutra studies\, I have decided to create this “Practical Sutra Study Session” as a monthly program designed to give more support to those on the path of self-awareness and mindfulness. \n\n\nI hope that you can join\, and come together with noble friends to deepen our practice together. \n\n\nMay you be well\, happy\, and peaceful. \n\n\nCOST: $10 \n\n\nA link will be sent to all registrants 2 hours before the workshop begins. \n\n\nWANT TO PARTICIPATE BUT UNABLE TO JOIN? \n\n\nNOT TO WORRY! \n\nTHE EVENT WILL BE RECORDED AND SENT TO ALL REGISTERED GUESTS!\n \n\nTo Join this Event\, Click HERE

SUMMARY:Healing Your Wounded Heart: A Mindfulness Workshop with Bhante Sujatha
DESCRIPTION:Healing Your Wounded Heart and Learning How to Let Go \nUplift Maui at Hotel Wailea\nDecember 15 \n6:00 – 8:00 PM \n“Working with people for more than 40 years as a monk and a friend\, I have come to know we all show up to life with wounds from our past. Childhood\, trauma\, suffering of all shapes and sizes. We all have wounds on our heart that effect how we feel\, think\, and how we interact with the larger world. Healing our wounded hearts is the work of this lifetime.” \nAllowing our heart to heal means we create the space to authentically feel and acknowledge the truth of suffering and the path to the end of this suffering. By putting in the right effort\, we can activate our natural healing systems. Instead of trying to “get over” our pains\, we learn to let go of the mental habits that reopen the wounds again and again. \nIn this 2-hour workshop\, Bhante Sujatha will guide us through the process of approaching our wounds with gentleness and grace\, and prepare you with the tools to let the healing process inside our hearts begin. \nFacing our suffering is not an easy process\, but we can come together in love and truth to move forward. \nActivities in this program will include: \n\nLecture: “Healing Your Wounded Heart.”\nInstruction in the practice of meditation.\nGuided mindfulness and loving-kindness meditation.\nTime for Questions & Answers.\n\nBenefits of this beautiful workshop can include: \n\nReduced stress\, anxiety\, worry\, and depression.\nHealing and enhancing relationships with others.\nGaining a sense of empowerment over challenging issues in life.\nInsights into life’s purpose.\nAwakening to the blessings of the present moment.\nConfidence in attaining unshakable inner peace.\n\nCOST: $35 \nTo Register\, Click: HERE
